Ice ice baby, the cheapest beauty tip you're ever gonna get

A few months back I posted an instastory icing my face and you guys had a ton of questions about it so I decided to do a full post.

I first learned about the magic of ice through Kimberly Tan, skincare guru and founder of the Skin Salvation Acne Clinic (you can read about my experience with the clinic here ).She recommended that I start icing my face for 10 min each in the morning and at night to reduce inflammation.  I ignored this advice for a solid 3 months because it seemed 1) inconvenient and 2) too simple to actually work. I mean, if Retinols and all of these other clinical sounding ingredients weren't working, how could something as simple as ice have any impact?

But then, I came back from Asia and my skin was having a major freak out.  I was desperate and willing to try anything. So I started icing my face and, no exaggeration, my skin was noticeably better that day. A few spots that were clearly cystic (or about to be) were immediately reduced in size and redness, then completely gone within 3 days, when they'd normally take up residence on my face at least 7-10.  After that I was hooked. It has seriously made the biggest change in the clarity of my skin, and its basically free.  Who would have thought? 

And I know it's the ice because whenever I've been clear for a bit and get lazy about icing, the breakouts come back. 

So here's what you need to get started:


Literally, thats it. Although if you want to make it a bit easier on yourself, I suggest investing in a popsicle maker.  This one is my favorite.  The shape makes it easier to apply. I usually do it over a sink as things can get a bit messy as it starts to melt. Apply the ice for ten minutes before applying your normal skincare regimen, morning and night.  Spend extra time on any areas that are especially prone to breakouts.
